HAMNER DEVELOPMENT COMPANY (HDC), a full service commercial real estate development, property management, construction management, and brokerage firm was founded in Newport News, Virginia in 1985, and is one of the market leaders in the development, leasing, sales and management of commercial and industrial properties in the Virginia Peninsula Region. To date, the Hamner organization has developed fifteen major commercial projects, representing in excess of 1,009,964 square feet of commercial space. These projects include Class “A” office buildings, “flex” buildings, medical projects, office/warehouse and industrial buildings most heavily concentrated in the Oyster Point area of Newport News. In the past ten years the firm has completed development of two major office condominium properties including Rock Landing Professional Park, a 31,520 square foot professional Park and The Landing, a 32,000 square foot professional park both located in Oyster Point of Newport News. The firm has also completed two major industrial properties and, most recently, has syndicated the acquisition and completion of a Class “A” medical facility in Williamsburg, VA.

William W. Hamner, CEO and Founder of HDC, was one of the first developers to recognize the potential of the Oyster Point area and focus on developing properties in this growth market. These properties have attracted tenants such as Wachovia Bank, NA, Jones, Blechman, Woltz & Kelly, P.C., United States Postal Service, PB Mares & Company, Engineering & Economic Research (EER), Casey Automotive Group, Allstate Insurance and many others. William W. Hamner, Jr. has continued the tradition, expanding services into the Williamsburg area and assisting the growth of such groups as Hampton Roads Otolaryngological Associates.

Since its inception, the Hamner organization has earned a reputation of excellence through a commitment to quality and innovative design, coupled with an operating philosophy emphasizing long-term ownership. HDC has combined its design, development and management expertise into an integrated team geared to meeting the requirements of today’s most demanding tenants, while still maintaining the ability to adapt to future needs.

A commitment to exceptionally high standards of quality and integrity is at the heart of HDC’s operating philosophy and is the primary reason for each of its development’s market acceptance and enduring value. Quality extends beyond building construction, to overall master planning and site design. Attention to detail is evident in the architecture, landscaping, lighting, parking, common areas and signage. The goal of each master plan is to create an environment, through the preservation and enhancement of natural features, for its tenants’ enjoyment and a lasting asset for the company and community in which it is located.

HDC is organized into four operating divisions, which have the capability of providing its clients the full spectrum of commercial real estate services. These divisions are Development, Marketing, Property Management and Construction Management. The “Hamner Team” is comprised of individuals with strong commitments to excellence and the depth of knowledge and experience to offer the highest level of marketing and management services for all product types.

THEN, your efforts will naturally morph into a rewarding career’. Whether we are helping a professional solve his real estate problems, or whether we are building a real estate portfolio to help a family meets its life goals, we look at every task through the lens of service.
